It was a night of tears and celebrations as The Daily Mirror's The Pride of Britain Awards was aired on ITV last night (October 30).  Hosted by Carol Vorderman, the annual glittering ceremony marked its 14th year with a star-studded gala at the Grosvenor House, London.

One of our favourite recipients of The Daily Mirror's Pride of Britain Awards this year had to be the amazing Jack Henderson, who picked up the award for Young Fundraiser of the Year.  Seven year old Jack was presented with his prize by his idol, Rolf who asked the young artist to draw a portrait of him backstage. Jack's drawing was later auctioned off to the star studded audience with the proceeds going to young Jack's charity The Sick Kids Hospital in Edinburgh.

The night was rounded off by an extra special dedication for the Olympians and Paralympians of London 2012. Guest of honour Prince Charles presented the athletes with a Special Recognition award before leading the entire room in a Mobot tribute.

The Pride of Britain Awards is packed with breathtaking stories of heroism and courage, uplifting and moving moments and hilarious celebrity surprises.  Nominated by the public, the winners truly deserve recognition. From all walks of life, of all ages, and from all over the country, their achievements are extraordinary, inspiring and a lesson to us all.
